St. Nicholas' Church, Stretton, Rutland
The Finch's Arms, Hambleton, Rutland
We love Navy weddings. This was our third of the year, and a referral from a wedding we'd shot in August, and just as we'd expected, Marie-Claire and Dave's wedding was a
wonderful way to end a very busy year for us.
We travelled up to Rutland from Dorset very early through torrential rain and once we arrived at Stretton, the roads resembled a skating rink. The ushers did a great job of
digging a path through the snow along the long lane to the church. Luckily no injuries were suffered.
In the church no-one was brave enough to remove their coats and we know long johns were worn by at least one member of the bridal party! We listened to a fantastic piano solo by
Vicky, ably assisted by Matt(well someone's got to turn the pages).
After the very cold but atmospheric ceremony we headed off to the 17th century Finch's Arms on Rutland Water. We left after the first dance for a rather treacherous drive through
snow back home to Dorset and a 5 week break before the season starts all over again.
