The Pig Hotel, Brockenhurst, New Forest, Hampshire
Lewis, a captain in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, has been bravely fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan and only got back to Britain a couple of weeks before the big day. We got to see his troop in action as he was the 'star' of Channel 4's "Fighting on the Frontline - Wagons of War". We watched it ourselves and were quite humbled. He's incredibly brave.
So whilst birdwatcher Lewis was driving his Warthog around the desert ticking off birds he'd spotted in his notebook, poor Sophie was having to organise the wedding herself but what a fantastic job she did.
Sophie and Lewis are one of a number of couples this year who decided to forego group shots and portraits altogether preferring to just get on and enjoy the day with no interruption whatsoever.
Although the day was bright and sunny, it was too cold to spend any time outside. The lovely toasty fires at The Pig were calling so after the Guard of Honour outside the church we all headed back for drinks and crackling!
Lewis mentioned that he wasn't going to say much during the speeches ... however, his was the longest groom's speech we've ever heard! In fact almost two hours had passed by the time best man David got to finish his.
